Protect Your Fingers (and iPhone) from STDs

Iphonefingers
Have you ever wanted to take a decontamination bath after coming across a really, really, filthy site (you know what I'm taking about)? Well now you can at least protect your fingers from acquiring an STD (or as Engadget puts it a screen-transmitted disease) with the help of Phone fingers. Yes, they're as ridiculous as they sound, but think of the benefits this has. You don't have to touch your filthy handset ever again (handsets are dirtier than toilets), or leave nasty smudges on your iPhone screen. You'll look like a complete fool, no doubt, but that's the price you pay for being a neat freak. Phone fingers are actually available now for $10 for a 25 pack, and are available ...

Portable DVD Player Concept

I remember the buzz about the portable CD player and now they have conceptualized the Portable DVD Player to match it, or improve it.  This one would utilize the ultrathin OLED display to keep it nice and compact.  The only complaint that was heard on the CD player before, and would wrap into this concept as well, was the exposed CD/DVD looking "cool" but not being functional...and possibly being dangerous.

I'm sure that the concept will be tweaked prior to release as usual, and I'm excited to see the many ideas that come from this one.  A truly portable DVD player would come in handy and with what we have on the market now, this would be a greatly improved design in comparison.

Nikon D3 Camera

Nikon has launched the Nikon D3 DSLR camera to be released in November of this year and they are gaining ground fast, living up to their old standards.  I have always been impressed with Nikon and they haven't disappointed me this time, either.

With the fastest startup time, shortest viewfinder blackout time and the shortest shutter lag of any digital SLR camera out there (they claim) this camera will give you the functionality that you need for the fast shots.  It will also give you plenty of quality.

The 12.1 effective MP has Nikon's new FX-format CMOS sensor which is measured at 23.9 x 36mm, making it so similar to 35mm film size.  The D3 has a brand new 51-point auto focus system with Nikon's 3D Focus Tracking ...

Skateboard Like a Master

The SkateMaster will give you a new love for skating.  Not powered by your feet, but instead an electric powerful motor that's attached to the board, giving you an easier way to head uphill.

Using a neat hand held remote, you just squeeze the trigger and your board will increase in speed and then you simply drive, like usual, with the leaning motions that power all skateboards.

It might seem lazy, but this could also open the door to other gadgets that are powered (and more affordable) to get us around, as an alternative to bikes and the ever-popular Segway.  Maybe you'll even surprise yourself and enjoy getting into shape while utilizing a new mode of transportation.

Circular LCD developed for in-vehicle use

circular-lcd-displayToshiba Matsushita Display has just released a new kind of LCD display that comes in a circular design, targeting installation in instrument panels for automotive applications. It is this piece of news that made me realize there aren't any circular LCDs available for consumer electronics yet - or am I wrong? This newly developed technology boasts an outer diameter of 75mm, including the driving circuit and works great for tightly confined space that is normally found in a motor vehicle instrument pane. Not only that, it does not break up the flow of the styling and design of the instrument panel itself. This is but a prototype at point of publishing, but it already can display a stunning 260,000 colors simultaneously. Can't wait ...
